3rd Class

Welcome to the 3rd Class with Mairéad.

       Conductors

We have been learning all about the Vikings. We have been studying their homes, clothes, writing and their way of life. We also had a very special visitor to our classroom ‘Freya’ the Viking. She told us all about her life and was able to show us lots of Viking artefacts.

Paul, our tin whistle teacher, brought a few bodhráns to class this week. We really enjoyed learning how to play the bodhrán and we are very thankful to Paul.

Science for Fun is a parent/child class whereby parents engage in their child’s learning in the classroom through science. The programme provides parents with the opportunity to model positive attitudes towards learning while also teaching new science concepts. It is on every Friday from 1.30-2.30pm for the next few weeks. All parents from 3rd class are welcome!

Take a look at all the fun we’ve been having so far!

The children have been been learning all about Ancient Egpyt in History. They worked in groups preparing projects on this topic and presented them to the class.

We studied Egyptian pottery and the materials they used. We then created our own Egyptian pottery using clay. Have a look!

We really enjoyed working together with 1st class on our Ethos Assembly.

This week the children have been learning about weather in Geography and Gaeilge. We also wrote our own weather report. We then performed our report in front of the class. We had great fun doing this!

This week Síne came to help us with our first class meeting for the student council. We had some great discussions and came up with lots of ideas that will now be passed on at the next student council meeting.

The boys and girls have been very busy this week studying a local habitat. We studied the different trees and their fruits.
