The big Fairtrade Breakfast.

5TH Class and Senior Infants had a Fairtrade breakfast.

Fairtrade

Fairtrade means that the Fairtrade ingredients in the product have been produced by small-scale farmer organisations or plantations that meet Fairtrade social, economic and environmental standards. The standards include protection of workers’ rights and the environment, payment of the Fairtrade Minimum Price and an additional Fairtrade Premium to invest in business or community projects. Six members of 5th class then took part in a debate. Three for Fairtrade and three against Fairtrade. Senior Infants and the rest of 5th class watched the debate unfold before giving their verdict. The majority vote was in favour of Fairtrade.
