World Book Day
Valentine’s Day Art
Have a look at some of the beautiful Valentine’s Day cards we made, something to treasure forever.
Road Safety Competition
We recently took part in an art competition run by Donegal County Council and Finn Harps. We learned a lot about keeping safe when using the roads, when in a car, cycling or on foot. We then created a poster around these themes.
Wild Atlantic Way
Crafty Kids in Letterkenny invited us to help compile the first ever local visitor guide for Donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way. The visitor guide will be created by local Donegal school children through their stories, art and pictures. They wanted the children to tell everyone what is so great about the Donegal and The Wild Atlantic Way. The children produced some fantastic pieces of work and drawings/photographs for this project. We learned a lot from each other, new places to visit and heard of some lovely memories the children had visiting these places.
Fire Officers Visit Our Class
We had a visit from two local Fire Officers this week for Fire Safety Week. We learned a lot about fire safety and fire hazards in the home. We each got a fun pack that reinforced all our learning.
Great Britain
We have also been learning about Great Britain in Geography. We learned about the currency, climate, their government, the royal family, well-know sports, activities and industries established there. We compared each of these areas then with Ireland.
The Perfect Chocolate
In art we each design our ‘perfect chocolate’. We studied lots of chocolates, their colour, shape and texture. We used this inspiration then to create t- section of our chocolate, i.e. what it would look like on the inside. After all our hard work, we got to eat some chocolate as a reward! Have a lot, I think you’ll agree we deserved it.
Everest
Before the winter holidays we began learning about Mountains and learned a lot about Mount Everest. We learned about Edmund Hillary, the 1st man to climb Mount Everest. We then focused on our own local hero Jason Black who was the 1st person from Donegal to climb the giant mountain. We are so excited about his coming visit to our class on Wednesday.
