Piet Mondrian

The Senior Infants have been considering the work of Piet Mondrian. Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter who was born in 1872.He created abstract images using geometric shapes and primary colours. First we looked at some of Mondrian’s works of art to learn about his style of painting.

Then we used laminated paper rectangles and squares to make our own Mondrian style pictures.
After this we practised painting in the lines of a photocopied grid. We had to use small brush strokes to stay in the lines.

Then we practised making black lines by painting the side of a ruler and printing with it onto paper. Once we got good at printing with the ruler, we started work on our final Mondrian inspired pieces of art. We printed the horizontal and vertical lines, then carefully filled in the rectangular and square sections made, using primary coloured paints.
We hope you like our work.IMG_0459
